Our application is open to candidates from September 1 until Thanksgiving each year. If
you are interested in volunteering with us, please complete the application by November
23, 2024, at midnight Arizona time to be considered as a participant in the Spring 2024
MCMN Course starting on January 8, 2025.
The cost of the course is a non-refundable $300. This fee includes the application fee of
$20; expenses related to course materials (books, field guides, field tools, etc.);
certification materials (name tags); and fees to maintain the chapter (minimal costs per
person for access to our support systems). If the $300 fee is difficult for you, please let
us know if you want to make other payment arrangements.
There is a non-refundable $20 application fee required to be considered for the
program. You will receive email instructions on how to remit this fee after you submit this application.
We will notify applicants of their acceptance by December 7, 2024. Within 48 hours you
will receive instructions on how to remit the remainder of the course fee, ($280). After
paying the entire registration of $300, your seat will be reserved in the course that begins on Wednesday, January 8, and runs to May 3, 2025.
Electronic payment is preferred; however, if you need to send a check, then we ask you
to notify us. Please add quickbooks@notification.intuit.com and info-
mcpmn@azmasternaturalist.org to your Safe Senders List to prevent these emails from going to your Junk/Spam mailbox.
The application asks questions about your experience to ascertain our applicants
knowledge about the natural and cultural environment. Previous academic achievement is not a driving factor in your selection of participants. We embrace a variety of diverse experiences so we can share knowledge and expertise with each other.
The criterion for acceptance includes your availability to participate in the course at
given times, ability to volunteer, and a commitment to support the organization. We
seek to bring together a cohort of people who are willing to learn and work together on
projects for our community. If you have any questions about the process, contact info-
We want to ensure this experience is available to anyone interested in volunteering to
support nature and who would like to gain or share their experience in program planning
and leadership. To accomplish that, we rely upon donor-based support to offset the
cost. If you are able to pay more than the cost of the course to offset another applicants
course fee, please consider making a donation. Your assistance will aid others in our community who are unable to afford the fee but would like to contribute by volunteering.
