What is an Arizona Master Naturalist?
Certified Arizona Master Naturalists provide education, outreach, and interpretive services to a variety of stakeholders including, but not limited to, education entities, state and city government agencies, and non-governmental organizations. Arizona Master Naturalists also participate in the stewardship of natural and cultural resources by participating in activities designed to do so. Arizona Master Naturalists contribute to increased and evolving scientific understanding of the region through participation in community science initiatives.
What is the Arizona Master Naturalist Association?
The Arizona Master Naturalist Association (AZMNA; azmasternaturalist.org) was founded in 2014 on the principles of education, stewardship, and community science. These three pillars inform our vision, direct our mission, and are integrated into all aspects of our day-to-day operations. We serve the needs of stakeholder organizations across the state by providing a trained and skilled corps of volunteers. The Association is affiliated with the National Alliance for Natural Resource Outreach and Service Programs (ANROSP; anrosp.org), where Arizona leaders are networked with similar content and education providers across the US.
The Arizona Master Naturalist Association trains volunteers to be leaders in the natural and cultural resource fields. The Association strives to utilize a community engagement model for partnership, develops programs that are inclusive, and works to ensure volunteer naturalists have the skills necessary to assist Chapter Community Partners with not only volunteer jobs but also the development of new programs and provide leadership.
