Since we started on September 1, 2018, the Maricopa County Chapter of Arizona Master Naturalists have worked to connect our community with the amazing Sonoran Desert. We are local volunteers who care deeply about our home and believe everyone can help protect the environment.
When you donate, you support both the Arizona Master Naturalist Association—an Arizona registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization—and our local projects right here in Maricopa County. This means your contribution is tax-deductible!
Your help lets us train new volunteers, grow our impact, and protect the wildlife and natural spaces that make this area special. Our volunteers do more than just learn about nature. We spend thousands of hours working in the parks, trails, and organizations you know and love.
You don’t need to be a certified Master Naturalist to make a big difference for our environment. When you donate, you invest in the future of our local desert and help us grow a community of lifelong nature lovers.

For the Desert Botanical Garden, our volunteers have contributed over 650 hours helping with education, stewardship, and community science. From docents leading tours to master naturalists fostering baby saguaros - the impact is incredible.

Hundreds of hours supporting the Boyce Thompson Arboretum (over 150 hours), the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy (over 140 hours), and the Audubon Maricopa Chapters (Rio Salado, Desert Rivers, Sonoran) (nearly 80 hours).

Nearly 140 hours volunteering at Liberty Wildlife and nearly 40 hours at The Phoenix Zoo.

Our volunteers have spent over 650 hours with the Desert Defender initiative identifying, mapping, and removing invasive plants to reduce wildfire risk, as well as supporting the native seed program for Maricopa County Parks.
While the passion of our volunteers is priceless, their time has a very real economic impact on the organizations we serve. By dedicating nearly 3,000 hours of service so far (as of May 1), our Master Naturalists have contributed over $103,000 in unpaid labor to various organizations throughout our county and state such as Maricopa County's parks, preserves, and conservation efforts!
(This economic impact is calculated using the Independent Sector's estimated value of a volunteer hour for Arizona at $35.27/hour).

We focus on three main areas: Stewardship, which means restoring habitats; Education, which includes teaching the public and leading tours; and Community Science, where we collect important data on local plants and animals for scientists. As our metro area grows, the need for environmental education and conservation continues to rise. We rely on your support to meet this need. Your donations help us:
